“I started my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in February 2013 at Spartacus Gym in East Vancouver under Roy Duquette. At the time, I had been a member of the gym’s weight-training facility for several years, and when Roy introduced an “Intro to BJJ” class, I decided to give it a try as a change from my usual workouts. What started as a way to mix things up quickly turned into a passion for the sport.
After moving to the Okanagan, I continued training for two years under Erik Lund at Goes Jiu Jitsu. When Erik eventually closed the gym, I began training at RDC Jiu Jitsu in Kelowna under Sterling Redlack in 2016, where I continue to train today.
I was awarded my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt in June 2024. Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to compete at a number of events, including earning a bronze medal at the IBJJF World No-Gi Championships as a brown belt in December 2023, and two silver medals at the Vancouver ADCC Open in October 2025.
After more than a decade of training, Jiu-Jitsu has become much more than just another form of exercise for me. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share the sport I love, help develop our adult program, and help students build their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of Jiu-Jitsu.”
